Guest
Ok, I'm self taught annd I learn from reading music and tablature, and watching videos. Been playing piano for forty years and now learning how to play the guitar. I've started learning coutry Blues finger picking and I've not been using a thumbpick and having a great time. However, I can see the benefit of the thumbpick for sonority sake and for having a pick ready for doing some flatpick runs and playing. Question: The thumbpicks I've bought at the store really seem to extend further than is comfortable. When flatpicking I expose les of the flat pick than these thumbpicks expose. I bought the smallest thumbpicks I could find. Does anyone file thier thumbpicks to an optimum setting? Joe
Tedster
No rules... Whatever you need to do to make life a little more comfy, go ahead. If it means filing your picks to a comfortable form, go for it! Ted "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Guest
Thanks Ted. What's wrong with idiosyncrasies anyway! Right? Joe
Tedster
Precisely! If you read any guitar mags, you'll note that most guitarists are constantly playing around with their gear...modding this...changing that. Some are "serious" mods...big things that solder gun junkies have to do to amps and whatnot...but a lot are real simple.
