KHAN
-This is a topic posted by Dave Bryce on the Keyboard Corner that I thought would be interesting over here. I hope you don't mind Dave, but guitarists need rhythm sections too. Sorry about my lack of originality, but what do you expect from a guy in a tribute band . http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/eek.gif ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave Bryce wrote: Fantasy time... If you could pick any rhythm section to jam with, who would it be? It's okay to mix and match....as a matter of fact, let's not restrict it to just bass and drums. Add a guitar player, or two if you want. Maybe a sax player...or a whole horn section! This should be some fun... For me, I'd probably go with Tony Levin on bass, with David Garibaldi on drums for the rhythm section. Can you imagine those two guys playing together? Man, they'd be fun to jam with... ...and, if I can add other musicians, it'd be either David Gilmour or Mark Knopfler on guitar - maybe both ...oh yeah - Earth, Wind and Fire's horn section, fer sure. I might even dig another keyboard player - maybe, like Bernie Worrell...or George Duke... That'd keep me busy for a while... Who's next? dB So Many Drummers. So Little Time... Chip McDonald
Vinnie Coliauta and Jimmy Johnson; I'd *try* not to sound like Holdsworth, I promise... Matt Cameron and Robert DeLeo; I'd make them improv over over certain changes.... Actually, Vinnie with DeLeo would be cool, and Cameron with Jimmy Johnson would be cool as well... Nick Mason with DeLeo Bill Bruford with Percy Jones Stewart Copeland with McCartney Bill Bruford with Percy Jones AND Stewart Copeland How about Copeland and just about anyone? Can that be arranged? Clyde Stubblefield or Jabbo with Flea, or Victor Wooten Scott Travis and Billy Sheehan - that'd be fun. Bring the caffeine.. Carter Beauford and Stanley Clarke Most of all though: John Bonham and probably DeLeo or McCartney. ... or maybe Elvin Jones with Jaco? Art Blakely with Jaco? BONHAM WITH JACO! Yeah!.... http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien

Tedster
I've always thought it would be cool to jam with the band from Joe Cocker's "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" tour...Leon Russell, y'know, the horns, the backup singers (I think Rita Coolidge was one of 'em in those days)... But, that's the sound I've always wanted... "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"

nrg music
Hi Guys A bit of a poser that one! I reckon one possibility would be the great Billy Cobbham on drums and Bill Bruford on the bass. And hey I wouln't mind playing with Al D'miola, Keith Emmerson and a whole bunch of other people that don't come immdiately to mind. Khan you sure do have a way of asking impossible questions that you cannot put only one answer to...... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/mad.gif Simon ...remember there is absolutely no point in talking about someone behind their back unless they get to hear about it... sbrock1san.rr.com
Kahn- Isn't Mark Portnoy just the poor man's Neil Peart ? Just kidding Kahn. I find his playing stiff and forced. That's just my take after seeing him live a couple of times. His favorite band is Marillion so I do cut him some slack for having excellent taste. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif No one has mentioned Raul Rekow on congas and Armando Peraza on various percussion from Carlo Santana's band in the 80's. They really were exciting and knew how to make things groove.

sbrock1san.rr.com
Let's see; Bill Bruford has played with Tony Levin, Eddie Gomez, Mike Rutherford, Jeff Berlin, Chris Squire. I'll just assume he MUST have picked up a few pointers on bass guitar from those guys !

nrg music
Right then y'all This is way off topic, for which I appologise in advance, but seeing as how your all so interested in the result of this 'needles in the ass' malarkey here's the word..... No she was not at all cute, she was built like a brick outhouse and i'm sure she had a well developped moustache and side burns http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/mad.gif I can honestly say iwas bloomin terrified..... something like that bears down on you with a fistful of very sharp needles you kinda get the shakes and find it in you somewhere to be very complimentary about her figure, her eyes and anything else about her that doesn't make you feel physically sick!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/eek.gif On the plus side, however, the accupuncture worked like a charm and I've got rid of guitar players shoulder for the first time in 6 months.... Scott from MA
Well, drums is a no-brainer: George Hurley!! I'd have to think about bass. I guess it would be too obvious to pick Mike Watt. Maybe Geddy? Oh wait!!! Who's the guy who plays bass for Ben Harper? I can't think of his name right now, but he is awsome! Oh well... I know I would want to jam with George! DC
Yes, a band that's tight with each other already sounds cool. Paul, George and Richard sounds perfect. Or EC's old band 'The Attractions' were tight as hell. I loved Rockpile so Dave Edmunds on guitar/keys, Nick Lowe on bass and Terry Williams on drums would be absolutely rockin.' -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse
