philabtinternet.com
Does anyone know how collectable or valuable a 1982 Yamaha SG3000S is? I am interested to hear about other peoples old guitars as well, but only if they are players and not collectors who don't play.
Guest
I'm not sure what your Yamaha is worth, I'd guess between $500-800 (in good to great condition) from what I've seen on internet auctions. I have a 1980 Gibson LP Firebrand, one of the variations on the original "The Paul" theme. All walnut neck and body with ebony fingerboard. PAFs without covers and the toggle switch in about the same spot as the SG. Mine isn't much collectible, unless one of two factors are met. (1) There are no others to be found in the universe; and/or (2) It was in super-duper condition. It is rough. It has been played and gigged before I got it, but I got it to play not to look and and hid away in a case or under a bed. I suppose it is worth $350-500. But I'd take $1000. I love its playability and tone. I sold a 1978 Ibanez Artist AR200 in used shape. Great guitar. I want another one sometime, but with a flamed top this time.
