Help me play with my organ!

Alesis related, as usual.

Anyone have any tips on how to get some good Organ sounds out of QS.8. I want someting more gritty, subtle . . . oh hell, I don't know how to explain it. I would like to sound like some Allman Brothers organ, or the organ piece in Saving Grace by Steve Miller.

Everything I play on the Alesis sounds like a hockey rink. And that's what the guys I play with always say too. :freak:

I don't have much experience playing organ, and I've never played a real one. So technique tips on a synthesizer would be helpful, too.

You asking for a Hammond B3 with Leslie sound. You might look into getting the Vintage Keyboards card for your QS. While it's still the same as having a B3, some of the patches come close.

If you can work with a PC running a soft synth, I strongly recommend the Native Instruments B4. The more I use it, the more amazed I am by how close it comes to the real thing.

You got tons of effects on?? Have you tried moving your D controller?

Do you have a sound you particularly like that may perhaps have too much reverb?

I don't know, I'll check. I've saved Rockin' B3, and 4draw rock to my user bank. Are there others that you prefer using (stock)? What does the D slider control? Thanks.

Thanks to you, too, Jimmi!

To do a reasonably decent Hammond on a QS, you have to use the raw samples from the Vintage Q-card and create your own Program to taste. even then, it's really only good in the low-to-mid registers. In the upper registers the waveforms lose any trace of authenticity.

I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist.

This ain't no track meet; this is football.

I don't own the Q8, but I do ownthe Quadrasynth-the best way to get aq good organ sound out of it is touse the midi out to play either a B4 (lots of other stuff needed) or the Voce V3 or V5 (if the V5, you'll need the Spin also.)

I have owned virtually every wanna-B3 since I set up a 3-oscillator patch on my Arp 2600. I now have 2 A100s, the V3, the Hammond module and the NI B4. IMO you can't get the B3 soujnd from the current sample player cards or synths, it needs more detail than is available from a general-purpose synth. Things like percussion retrigger, foldback and Leslie horn alignment suffer in the regular modules.

It's all about the music. Really. I just keep telling myself that...
