DFreqTIP - Setting the Sound Blaster SoundFont Cache

Whenever someone tells me they are using a Sound Blaster Live sound

card for music recording, I cringe a little. Then I calmly explain

to them that the Sound Blaster Live is a consumer-level sound card,

and is not made for serious music making. Sure, if you're just

making music as a hobby or just for fun, then an SB Live may be all

you need, but you'll still run into its many quirks.

Case in point... when trying to adjust the SoundFont Cache, you may

find that it keeps getting reset every time you restart your PC.

This means you have to adjust it each time you boot your system.

Very annoying. Well, with a little Windows Registry tweaking, at

least that one quirk can be kicked to the curb. Here's how...

Hey, Scott - welcome to the Forum. Nice to see that no one flamed you...I should have warned you that Forum members don't take kindly to immediately posting info that feels like advertisement, even if it is helpful (which yours is). It's cool to put a link at the bottom to your site, but we generally tend to avoid direct references to our products unless asked, and then after we've established ourselves to the others here. There's quite a few experts in various parts of music technology and music biz here, and you'll find that no matter how much we all know, we all continue to learn from each other.

To the Forum-ites - I've known Scott quite a few years, and his knowledge is great and will be very helpful to others here. He just has to get used to our style on the Forum (although it has strayed a bit in subjects lately, the heart and soul are the same).
