jimbadazz
Ensoniq came out with the first sequencer/sampler/drum machine in one table top unit. Did the Akai MPC series perfect the idea?
Dave Bryce
Ensoniq came out with the first sequencer/sampler/drum machine in one table top unit. I believe that the first sequencer/sampler/drum machine was the Sequential Circuits Studio 440 in 1986, followed by the original MPC-60 in 1988. I don't remember any Ensoniq product like that being manufactured during the 80's. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
DBENNVAhotmail.com
Peeps, The MPC as you should well know is way more popular than the ASR/X. Now if you're talking ASR-10/88, which is'nt made anymore it's a different story. If what you're looking for is a backbone sequencer, & general sampler for your MIDI set up the MPC is it. The only thing I really like better on the ASR/X is it's effects. Quantum! C/O DBENNVA@hotmail.com
jonniepain
The MPC is the most popular percussion , sampler, sequencer according to Music Retailer Magazine for what ever thats worth to you . I've played with both pieces , they both are easy to use and sound good I think there is more support and sounds available for the MPC .
