hsizaretclub-internet.fr Posted March 11, 2001 Share Posted March 11, 2001 Hello, I would like to have your opinion on this idea : when shopping for new gear online, suppose that you've narrowed your retailers' choice to 3 and you know their list price, and you still want to get a better deal. Send an e-mail to these 3 retailers, all of them in copy (so they know who've you are considering for your final choice) with the text : "Hi, I want to buy the XYZ gear, I am aware of your respective offers: dealer A : xxx dollars, dealer B : xxx dollars,dealer C : xxx dollars, but my choice will go to the dealer who will be the first to give me an even betterdeal. Offers end on .../.../..." This way, the retailers may want to make an extra effort, if they realy want to clinch a deal, and they know who they are competing against. Lower price, free shipping, free cables, free assistance... who knows, anything goes. Of course, this supposes you know everything about the model you want and you need to be fair in return with the retailers, ie fix an expiring date of the offers, and make a closing e-mail to inform everybody of your choice and why.
