rdtmusix
Hi -- really dumb newbie question here. I'm running the latest version of Native Instruments Pro52 on my Sony VAIO laptop (600mhz PIII 64mb RAM). My MIDI interface is a MIDIMAN USB Midisport 2x2. The software seems to be running fine, and I'm getting sound when I trigger the Pro52. Here's my problem: pops and clicks in the audio when I try to lower the latency below 50ms. Every extraneous CPU hog on the machine has been disabled, and I still am stuck with lame performance. I know there's a simple solution to this problem, but I can't remember what it is. More RAM? System settings? Drivers? Voodoo amulets? Thanks a lot to anyone who has the answer! rdt
aeon
>50ms may be the best you will ever see out of the VAIO. Because latency is largely influenced by your soundcard (and I would assume the soundcard is on the mobo in the VAIO), (in general) you won't get pro latency figures unless you are using a pro-level soundcard. For example, on the Macintosh you are locked at 11ms latency unless you move to a different soundsystem...11ms is a function of the OS-level Sound Manager system. Go tell someone you love that you love them.
