Guest
I've transcribed many solos and songs. I know of no book that can help. Trial and error is a good teacher for learning how to transcribe. Singing parts and then matching what you've sang is good practice. For that note that is hard to find: Play the solo right up to the note then stop the recording and sing the note back. Use falsetto for high notes. I use every strategy I can fo figure out harmonies. Listen to only the bass notes. Try to suspend your knowledge of harmony so you can hear notes more clearly. EQ out basss frequencies or increase EQ in the area of frequencies where you're trying to find notes. Sometimes trust your fingers to instinctively play the right notes. The more you transcribe, the better you'll be. Transcribing for a beginner is as difficult as a baby learning how to walk.
