Allan Speers
There have been posts elsewhere on the net warning that some master-controller have TERRIBLE midi-response time. In other words, the time it takes for the midi note to leave the midi-out jack after your finger comes down. Evidently some are horrible. I believe that the Korg SG1-D was particularly bad, even though it triggered it's own internal sounds ok. Other controllers had such problems as the black keys sounding louder than the white keys for a given velocity. Roland and Yamaha were not excluded from this list, in fact a "good" controller was almost non-existent. Does anyone have the specs for the current crop of keyboards out there? The P200, A90Ex, etc? I am particularly interested in the Kawai MP-9000.
Allan Speers
Bumping. C'mon, Dave! No-one has any current specs? This is not exactly a minor issue.

The most recent study that I know of was done by Keyboard magazine - they did a latency spec shootout a few years back (I wanna say 1996 or 1997). I'll bet a lot of those specifications are still true today. If I remember correctly, Alesis and Ensoniq had the fastet response times. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
