Bobro Posted July 14, 2001 Share Posted July 14, 2001 Unfortunately Steinberg customer support is sometimes more "interesting" than useful, and the official forum must hold some kind of record for being offline at strange times. There are many flavors of Cubasis but they all have different names- Cubasis AV, Cubasis Lite, Cubasis OEM, Cubasis GO!, Cubasis Notation, Cubasis VST, Cubasis Audio Lite for Amiga/Atari (B+W!), Cubasis InWire (free), etc. The differences are audio track counts, different platforms, and different extras. The basic program is the same. The Cubasis AV/Lite/OEM/whatever that came with your card won't have the mp3 convertor, CD burning, virtual instruments, track count or sample CD that come with the $100 Cubasis VST 2.0. Do you need the extras? Probably the version that came with your card has 16 audio tracks (8 stereo) and 64 midi. If that's enough, and you have other programs for mp3 conversion and CD burning, you might want to save up for Cubase proper. On the other hand, if you don't have those programs, getting 48 audio tracks, a couple of VST instruments, a sample CD, a Frauenhofer mp3 convertor and audio CD burning software for about $100 (depending on where you are) is a pretty good deal. Since you already have the Cubasis Audio/Midi sequencer and most likely have a CD burning program if you have a burner, I would recommend the CoolEdit 2000 audio editor with the mp3 convertor plugin.
