Lee M.
Hi, Everybody. Any thoughts on an optimal "warm up" time for tube gear? Thanks for your input. Bone
ProTools4aol.com
Depends on the Gear! Big expensive power sections like Marshalls I let them Power up for 10 minutes. My Avalon mic pres self standby when they power up. I use um when there ready. Tube micsI let power up for 10-20 mimutes. I think they shound better after 20 but I might b on crack. ------------------ "Natorious" Tad Banzuelo Rockin SoCal with PT5 ProTools4@aol.com [This message has been edited by ProTools4@aol.com (edited 06-05-2000).] "Natorious" Tad Banzuelo Rockin SoCal with PT5 ProTools4@aol.com
Anderton
There's no doubt tubes change over time, but it's not like a switch -- there isn't some period of time after which they magically hit their stride. I'll go with the 10 minutes figure for preamps, a bit more for power amps, and 30 minutes for test equipment. This isn't just a "tube thing;" other components around the tube have to stabilize, too.
