Dr Teeth
Could you recommend any ear plug for soundreducing, but some that does not make the music sound mud?. Rebuilding My Self
KenElevenShadows
I think I am using something called Sonic 5s that are pretty good and definitely don't turn things to mud. I don't know if they are the best ear plugs, but they certainly fit your criteria. I don't know where to get them. I got them at a sporting goods store, and they are designed for people who fire guns. I've had them for quite a few years now. surfmonkey
I strongly, strongly suggest getting custom molds and filters from an audiologist. They make the filters in different strength levels (mine are -25db's ). Your doctor or local musicians union can help you find a place. I have no homepage. Chip McDonald
If you're not sure, always go for the foam... Some of the cheap brands of "musical" ear plugs let certain frequencies through full-power, while attenuating others more... which may measure out to X amount of db reduction - and sound more "live", but you're frying your ears at different points in the spectrum. One thing: try ear plugs by putting them in ALWAYS *before* you hear any loud sound at all. If you hear a bright, loud transient - like a snare or cymbal - you'll compare the sound with the earplugs to that and it will sound excessively dull. Put them in early, and keep them in - you'll notice it less.
