ss
I have a Ludwig Classic Maple 5x14 snare and I want to get the best sound POSSIBLE out of it. O.K., I know that you can't equal a 6" snare but I want to tune this snare as good as it can be tuned. If it helps I'm looking for a fat tone with a responsive attack. Super 8
I'm not so convinced that anybody here can tell the difference between a snare that is 5" deep versus one that is 6" deep. The best way to get a great tone out of your snare is simply to stick some new heads on it, yank out any muffleing, and spend some time working and tuning and lightly dampening until it sounds like what you want to hear. There isn't any exact science to this. I personally LOVE a nice wooden snare. I've personally got a Pork Pie 6x12" maple that I just LOVE! ss
Hey 8, Thats pretty much what I've been doing with the exception of the new head. The head on the snare is the Ludwig weathermaster, and the kit is new so it will get me by for now. I did replace all other heads (g2 clear & EMAD). Don't get me wrong, I love this maple snare, I was only wondering if I was missing something in the tuning process. Thanks for the reply P.S. love the Pork Pie!!!!!!!!!!
