Bonham Jr
I am interesting in buying a pair of hi hats that sound great and are in excellent visual condition, but the seller says it has an "invisible amount of keyholing" on the top hat. What does this mean?
offramp
What this means is that the hole where the cymbal mount assembly goes through has become misshapen; the hats were never tightened very well, the top one found it's "resting position", and the years of being beaten kind of forced the hole edge to chafe at the threaded tube on the cymbal mount. Gradually, it gets chewed away doing this; the shape of the hole tends to resemble a keyhole. Sounds like somebody admired Ringo a bit too much. If he says it's "invisible", the best guess I have is that the hats don't seem to sit out of whack because of the hole. Otherwise, if you can identify it as a keyhole, then it isn't exactly "invisible". But that's my pedantic self speaking. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
