I think I've got my drums tuned how I want them now, but this is just a sound I've always liked. Who knows, maybe I'll try it out next time I change the heads. BlueStrat a.k.a. sidereal Posted May 12, 2003 Share Posted May 12, 2003 I LOVE that sound, very dry with nice, open toms. One of my favorite drum sounds on record, ever. I think it's a combination of precise tuning, maybe a bit of muffling on the snare, and either no or very little reverb. It sounds like one of those situations where a lot of attention was paid to the recording process (great mics, pres, placement, etc) and less attention paid to mixing after the fact.
