Blue Strat
Hey guys and gals, Where can I find a good set of bongo drums for cheap? I've looked on e-bay, and there's everything from cheap bongos with the heads stapled or tacked on to expensive tunable bongos. What should I look for? I'd like to get a functional set for about $20 or so. Is it better to check in thrift shops and at yard sales? Finaly, is it possible to make a set? Any DIY bongo websites? BlueStrat a.k.a. george costanza
You could probably make some but probably no less expensively than a purchased set. You could however design some variations: size (both head-size & drum depth), tunings, etc. A search at "dogpile.com" turned up many sites; I didn't really have time to investigate them (that's your job, Sheriff! ) but I'd bet construction principles aren't much different from other hand drums.
