Infusion
Now, I'm an expert on V-Drums (LOL) from all the reading I've done. The Pintechs appear to do the same thing. Is that true? I'm not into cutting corners, but why spend the extra $$$ for V-Drums if I can get the Pintech kit/ TD-10 combo for less (maybe much less)? Gtoledo3
I can't answer the question! But I've heard that pintech had that design first and that roland ripped it... anyone know? boose44
Don't know about who was first, Roland or Pintech. However, since Pintech has licensed their mesh head technology from Roland, I would bet it's safe to say that Roland developed it first. OTH, concerning the Pintech's vs. the Roland's. I got one of the new Pintech AX14S snares a few months ago, and I'd would easily put it up against any of the Roland 80R or 120's. True, it's a 13inch Piccolo steel shell (rather large for some), but it has 12 double lugs and black mesh heads. The new model is not on their web site yet, but you can see pics I took here: http://www.ap-net.com/vdrums/ax14s_1.jpg http://www.ap-net.com/vdrums/ax14s_2.jpg http://www.ap-net.com/vdrums/ax14s_3.jpg For about half of the price of a Roland I get comparable performance from the Pintech easily. -bruce
Brakka
Thanks for posting those pics. I've been curious about those, too. They should use your photos on their site.
boose44
lol, Brakka. I have to think that Pintech isn't spending that much on photography. OTH, I've noticed that the new model of the AX14S bares a little more than passing resembalence to the shell that Hart Dynamics was using for *theirs* up until they discontinued it a month or so ago. The only difference appears between the two appears to be that the Hart was a 10 lug'er, and the Pintech is a 12. Otherwise looks to be the same shell size, lug type, etc... -bruce here's link to a pix of the discontinued Hart: http://www.ap-net.com/vdrums/acusnare.jpg
ECBRules
The pintechs are not real good. The hardware is way below roland's hardware. I would pass on them. Check out the roland v-club.
