After reading the new modern drummer (Aug 2002)'s article on building your own kit, I've been seriously considering building one. It's a fair amount of work, good bit of risk (drilling the holes for lugs scares me most!), so not for the cautious. Check the ads in MD for Precision Drum company, sells shells, hardware, coverings, and snare drum kits. Good people, excellent products, and competitive prices!
