zigman6
I recently had a client play for me some hard rock CD's, saying he'd really like to get a similiar sound for his band. The recordings were from the bands A Perfect Circle and Sevendust. I've never attempted anything THAT processed before, most of my reocrdings are clean, bright & dynamic. Any recommendations on outboard gear, compression settings, mixing techniques to go about achieving such an aggressive and extremely punchy drum sound.??? Thanks in advance. MethodAir
All the big rock drum sounds are recorded to 2" tape and usually mastered to 1/2 inch. That's a big part of that sound..as well as the hi-end compressors and eq's etc. MethodAir http://www.electricmountain.com/home.htm
monestat
Alot of the sounds you hear on those kind of records are triggered samples. Kick and snare mostly. There's a plug-in for Pro Tools that allows you to do this very easily. Also, you're probably hearing tons of compression going on.
