Ben
Picking up from a question in the "bored" thread. As a bass player who also plays drums, here's a thread on that very topic from the bass forum: http://www.musicplayer.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=000004&p=
KikkyMonk
I have played both upright and drum set. I can say that in either of the 2 positions the most important thing is for the other to listen. You can learn so much about the feel of the song or where you think the changes are going to be etc by listening to each other. I think that because drums in for the most part in charge of tempo and rythem that it's important for the drummer to be willing to jump onto some of the bass players ideas. When I was playing set I had a bass player that would listen hard to me and me to him. We ended up having a blast and came up with some ultra cool syncopation split between the bass and drums. Unison accents in odd rythems are also badass... anywho thats it from me
