BotTom
Came across a 98-ish Warwick Thumb BO 5 string. Excellent condition except there are a couple of rough places up the back of the neck. Are these cracks in the making? Can anything be done?
Rocky McDougall
BotTom, Without seeing the neck it would be impossible for any of us to give you advise. Can you take it to a professional luthier for a check before you buy? That would be my best advise. Rocky "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb, voting on what to eat for lunch. Tom Capasso
I agree that you should have the bass checked by someone who knows. However, some necks do not have a finish - over time the wood gets "rough" because the wood is raw. If raw isn't your think, you could lightly sand and put some tung oil to help protect it.
