JimK
A friend (who plays the violin) and I have been talking about playing some music together. I've been playing for 20+ years, although not much classical stuff. Can anyone recommend some music for us to try? Any suggestions on where to get music for violin and guitar (web sites, stores, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. Christopher
http://www.guitarsalon.com/ The Piazzolla and Paganini stuff is fun.
Hippie
Blind Faith's, 'Sea of Joy'. My band tried to do the song, but the violin parts on a keyboard/synth. sounded...fake. In two days, it won't matter.
Chip McDonald
Vivaldi's violin concertos work well. As a kid I used to make arrangements of parts of them as an excuse to try to emulate that style (this is post Randy Rhoads, pre-Yngwie mind you). Pagannini's... 8th caprice I think, the.. wait, no, the 15th.. the vibrato-exercise one could be worked into a duo piece I think. The one that has the all of the long descending glissi. Albinoni's adagio works, but that's only appropriate for grave circumstances and I don't think it should be played "lightly". IMO... Check out Vivalid's work...
