bassaddik
the monthly publication of the Musician's Union has a story on "Hairspray" this month- we are on the cover and they even used some comments from yours truly in the article! too bad we had to appear in our 60's style green tuxedos... bittersweet. check it out if you have a chance ! i have to add, it is such a blessing playing with these amazing musicians, each one much more accomplished than me. The band is absolutely smokin' and it is a privilege and humbling experience to work with them, thank you, God. - Adrian Praise ye the LORD. ....praise him with stringed instruments and organs... jeremy c
Great, Adrian! (I wish that someone had proof-read the story...it should have said "no holds barred" (as in wrestling) not "no holes" which makes no sense. Jay Terrien
I think they were talking about UPRIGHT BASSES. F-holes..... LOL! I always pictured that Aido would have on an orange tux to compliment his Nordy. Dude, next time, try to get the whole cast to wear orange and blue tuxes a la "Dumb and Dumber"!! Ha ha!! That would RULE! Originally posted by jeremy c: Great, Adrian! moot
When the musicians are revealed, they're dressed in campy tuxes designed to match the early 1960s era the musical is set in. Campy. Good word. Wally Malone
Adrian, Great to see you made the cover story. I was going to start a thread with the link but have been busy the last few days. You beat me to it. Hope you have a long run! I'll be coming to Las Vegas again in June for meetings of the Field Staff and hope that I have some free time to catch up with you. I know I say that every time I come out there but these meetings tend to eat up most of the time. Wally I have basses to play, places to be and good music to make! davio
Well I was going to say that it looked like either the guitarist or tenor sax player forgot their tux pants for the photoshoot so they laid a black sheet over their laps so people would be less likely to notice but upon closer inspection, is that a random hand coming up from under the sheet on the bottom of the guitar??? bassaddik
LOL! we have two brown couches in our downstairs bandroom, where the pic was taken, they covered the one with the black sheet, I think they should have left it alone. I also think someone should have proof red the article. No Holes Barred?? that is just wrong, even I knew that, and i didn't speak a single word on English until I was 10! bassaddik
Drew is an amazing guitarist, and a really good guy- laid back and easy going. Every night I am treated to his impeccable groove and blazing solos. There are 2 guitarists. Larry Esparza is a great player as well, a very talented young cat from Berklee. They compliment each other very well - Believe me, I am so thankful to be playing with these guys. all of them. but back to Drew... i totally understand why he is so respected. he just floors me. The day hurricane Katrina hit and the levee broke, Roger was ready to MOVE to Vegas! I've almost had to strap him down to stop him. He even went online and checked out jobs over there! He actually DOES want to relieve Vegas of some of it's money, by way of being the top car salesperson at one of the dealerships! I am forcing him to stay in NAwlins though, cause I can't bear the thought of leaving this place for very long. So for now, Vegas will still just stay our favorite vacation spot! ... connie z "Change comes from within." - Jeremy Cohen The definition of LUCK: When Preparation meets Opportunity! http://www.cybergumbo.com
