I have just had the joy of buying an Alvarez electric bass (4 string) with 2 smokin' EMG pickups in it. I can't find any info ANYWHERE on this bass! Does anyone else have one? It was stupid cheap ($350 CDN), and I was looking for a bass that I can thrash onstage, so it fit the bill perfectly. saxofunk Posted December 29, 2005 Share Posted December 29, 2005 Alvarez used to be a part of US Music Corp. Can't say how it happened, but they apparently have spun off. They stopped making basses fairly recently... I remember 5 years ago when I was shopping for my first bass, Alvarez had some very nice instruments at reasonable prices. They were made in Korea by Samick. They used a photo flame under layers of clear coat that looked very nice, until you recognized the repeat pattern on similar basses. Maybe they quit the bass business because their primary distribution was through Marrs Music.... maybe, don't know for sure. I think you've done well.
