Edendude
We're adding little Stevie's 'For Once In My Life' to our rep. I'm just curious... Is that Jamerson on that cut? My Last Band

Edendude
Thought so... I just checked on a Jamerson webpage, too. Now just I have to find a way to do it justice. My Last Band
bc_dup1
Jamerson indeed. Played that line in a band a couple of years ago, note for note. It sounded fine when I played it with the record, but I must admit I was never happy that it really grooved live and it didn't stay in the set long. Still don't know if it was my fault, the drummer's, or a bit of both. Rehearsal would have been a quick run through on the soundcheck which wouldn't have helped with such a difficult line (by my standards, anyway). I'm sure you'll do a better job on it than I did. Edendude
My way of thinking is that trying to play it note for note, just like JJ did, is the wrong approach for me. I usually end up with something that works better, if I try to capture the feel, but play it my own way. As we all know... JJ was the master of groove and feel, so that's a big challenge.
