Bass_in_August
I recently purchased Diana Krall "live in paris" and wow her band in that dvd is fantastic. The upright player John clayton has some of the greatest lines in that and when he bow's a solo over east of the sun it almost melts you I'de recommend it to anyone who has'nt seen it yet Godbless Play it once it's a mistake, play it twice and its Jazz

tnb
John Clayton is a beast. Check out the bass trio cd he did with Chritian McBride and Ray Brown. Sick. I haven't heard any Diane horror stories from the people I know that know her.

BenLoy
I met John Clayton at the old Iridium in NY after he finished a blistering set with Monty Alexander and Jeff Hamilton. I couldn't think of anything to say to him except "that was really great," in this sheepish tone of voice that made me sound like I was afraid of him. He was really nice, though. Jeff Hamilton was a real nice guy as well. Funny, too.
