davio
Hm...I wonder if he had any classical guitar training. Excuse me while I go practice so my guitar teacher doesn't castrate me this fall.
butcherNburn
Very cool.. I hate him. I'm glad I'm not the only one that frequents that site.. Even though I never attended college and would have graduated a long time ago if I had. If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing! Steve Lawson
I've seen Jake live, opening for the equally awesome Kaki King in LA (a couple of days before I went to see Kaki again in SF with our own Jeremy C!) - he's remarkable. Does that tune, Spain by Chick Corea, a Radiohead song (No Surprises I think), and a tonne of other great stuff. As far as I know, he's never been a classical guitar player - he's from Hawaii where Uke it taken a lot more seriously than in most other places. And after listening to him, you can see why! dohhhhh6
Simply amazing. I wonder if he needed to find a specific tuning for playing this song? In Skynyrd We Trust
musicfiend
Apparently he's been playing since he was a tot, I saw a special on him on the news not too long ago..sounded great! Hiram Bullock thinks I like the band volume too soft (but he plays guitar). Joe Sample thinks I like it way too loud (but he plays piano). -Marcus Miller

groove machine
Jake also played on a track by Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. He opened for them when they played in Hawaii & apparently they were impressed with him.

groove machine
Glad to read so much positive response about a uke player from Hawaii. Another guy equally impressive is Bill Tapia who's 97 but still can play the hell out of the uke.
