Dave Brown
Look up www.realbook.us. But they only have a couple of these tunes. I'll bet your teacher asked you to listen to these tunes and develop your own chord charts. And maybe you found that a bit difficult. Take one, a slower one, and, at the very least, figure out the roots of the chord for the entire song. Group these chords by 4 measure phrases. If you can get one done by your lesson, you'll have learned a ton. Good Luck... Yep. I'm the other voice in the head of davebrownbass.
Sir Ethelred Hedgerow-Hedg
Cheers for the advice Dave but thats not what happened. My teacher left me "Ace of Spades" to learn, and I did, like the good, dedicated student of bass I am. I might, try to figure out some roots anyway, get a head start and things. John W.
Try this: Charles Mingus--More Than a Fakebook, Hal Leonard Publishing. Great leadsheets, and a fascinating read. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0793509009/qid=1116567368/sr=2-3/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_3/104-2132568-5733559
bc_dup1
I have that one John and it is indeed excellent. Another option (I don't have this one) is "More Than A Play Along" which has cds you can play along with a la Jamie Aebersold. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0634001531/qid=1116579414/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-1604937-6639849?v=glance&s=books
