Snowdog79 Posted April 7, 2005 Share Posted April 7, 2005 Lowdowners in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, take note: Cory Helms, the bassist for the quirky pop band The Chemistry Set, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. He is a great guy, a fabulous bass player, and he's only 23. This Friday, April 8th, a benefit concert is being thrown at The Wreck Room in Fort Worth, featuring The Chemistry Set (yes, he's still playing), my band Collin Herring, the wonderful Calhoun, and several other fantastic groups from the area. All the money from the door is split between Mr. Helms and the American Cancer Society. If you're in the area, and aren't gigging, think about coming out. The line-up is fabulous--a selection of the best in the local music scene. And it all goes to help out a good bassist, and a good guy. Just for the record, I'm not officially affiliated with Mr. Helms or his band, aside from sharing a stage with him from time to time and really digging his tasty glockenspiel solos. I'm just posting this to possibly get some more people there to help the guy out.
