SteveC
Good mwah. The more I play the bass, the more I like it. It works so well for that upright tone. If you want (I hate to use this term) "Jaco" type fretless, I don't think a Wendler is what you want. But if you're looking at Rob Allen, I think they are in the same category of "upright" tone. Cliff Bordwell
I've always wanted to check one of those out! Great review. www.cbbasses.com
onelove
The tapewound strings are extremely forgiving regarding intonation. Excuse my ignorance, but how do tapewound strings improve intonation?
musicfiend
The sound of the tapewound strings. If you were to play roundwound strings on a heavy ash bodied fender you would be amplifying all of those out of tune notes. It's a revelation that John entwhistle came to when he as pioneering his use of ectreme treble frequencies. He said he liked the tone but it made him realize he had topractice a lot more, because with all of that sound he couldn't hide his mistakes. Hiram Bullock thinks I like the band volume too soft (but he plays guitar). Joe Sample thinks I like it way too loud (but he plays piano). -Marcus Miller
