57pbass
I am thinking of having my USA Joe Osborn bass controls changed from the stacked Volume/Tone - Volume/Tone config to Master Volume / Pan / Tone I really need to have a master volume control on my basses and dont like using a volume pedal... The bass has passive electronics and I will keep it passive. What do you think?? www.danielprine.com
73 P Bass
What if you set it up as Master volume / Pan, neck tone, bridge tone? You'd have all the same features and only have to buy on concentric knob. I personally like pan knobs. getz out
Finding a stacked Volume/Pan pot can be tough. I know Warwick will sell one as a replacement part. You'll be better off with a Volume/Tone stacked and a Pan Pot if you want to keep it simple. You can keep one of the Volume/Tone pots as the master and just add the pan pot. Let me see if I can find some schematics.
getz out
http://static.zoovy.com/img/guitarelectronics/H610-W443-BFFFFFF/wdujbass1 This should work; except the volume and tone would be on the same pot. guitarelectronics.zoovy.com will have all the parts you need. Good guys, too.
57pbass
Thanks Getz... I hope to eliminate the stacked knobs and just have three contols... That diagram is exactly what I am looking to do.. I will leave this to a pro .. I'll have a discussion with Sadowsky tomorrow.. Thanks... www.danielprine.com
getz out
Ah... so you'll replace the control-plate so you'll have 3 knobs and a jack. Got it.

Tom Capasso
Dan - is that the Lakland Joe Osborn? I'm wondering if you could ship the plate/components to Dan L and have him send you back what you want. It would still be an "un-modded" Lakland then. And Roger isn't the least expensive guy in town... If you stay with the one stacked pot you don't need to change the plate. I'd make the "front" control the single pot for volume and use the "back" stack for pan/tone. That makes the whole job a lot easier. 57pbass
Here is the latest. I spoke to Dan Lakland today and he said it was not possible to wire the bass as requested. The end result is loss of high end and the pan pot wont work He said if I find the "recipe" let him know. I then called Roger Sadowsky and he said no problem, bring the bass in .... I clarified what I wanted and he said its not a problem?? I guess I'll bring it in to Sadowsky for the mod..... $ = parts and labor. www.danielprine.com
getz out
Surprising answer from Lakland; Rick Turner started doing that modifications decades ago.
