br0wngyrl
I just bought a new bass, and I was wondering if anybody else had this problem. And before you tell me about muting, I know it's not that. I should not be able to get harmonics all the way up and down the neck should I? The frets buzz (for lack of a better word) harmonically when I attempt to mute the strings and I can purposely get really clear harmonics on all frets. Is this normal? If it is, and I just really really suck at muting feel free to let me know. If it isn't, is it the strings (which are really stiff IMHO) or the action, which may be slightly high according to what I've read. Thanks for your help. jeremy c
If you get really clear harmonics on all the frets, I would consider that a good thing. Now you need to work on your left hand muting. Keep your fingers down. Keep as many fingers touching the strings as you can. Good luck and welcome to the Lowdown. Free download of my cd!. EddiePlaysBass
I agree with Jeremyc, I wish I had a bass like that Don't try to fix it, and do as he already suggested : work more on the muting "I'm a work in progress."
