xvincex
Hello, I'm kinda confused with plugging a poweramp in a BRIDGED MONO mode. Here's the deal, I'll soon have a QSC PLX 1602 Power amp and I'm currently in the process of ordering all the cables needed (since the local shop kinda suck) so I'd need the exact cables needed. Here's the rear panel: http://www.qscaudio.com/images/hi_res/PLX3402_back_hi.jpg So, what should I do? - Bridge Mono Mode SWITCH (7) to ON and which of the following?: - 1+ 2+ Speakon -> 1/4" into the Cabinet - 1+ 2+ Speakon -> Standard speakon into the cabinet? - Banana cable -> 1/4" into the Cabinet - Banana cable -> Standard Speakon into the cabinet I have a SVT-810e BTW. xvincex
Thanks a lot Bob, I'll use the speakon cable then (what's the difference btw?). Is must be wired 1+ 2+ on the AMP end, the cabinet end doesn't matter?
Mr. Phil
A speakon and Banana plugs/cables are designed for a higher current flow than the standard 1/4" phono jack/cable. I guess you get a slightly better sound, although I can't tell the difference. Also a benfit from speakons is that they lock in. Now, I've never seen anyone step on a speaker cable and pull it out... That would be a good Idea to put on a guitar though. I think I'll be the first to do that on my EUB [copyright 2004 Phil Grasso. a boy named sue
Also a benfit from speakons is that they lock in. Now, I've never seen anyone step on a speaker cable and pull it out... Banana plugs also lock in (if you put them in that way). I think the biggest benefit of the speakon in this situation is that you won't have to think when you set-up, i.e. the "wiring" is done when you order the cable. A man is not usually called upon to have an opinion of his own talents at all; he can very well go on improving them to the best of his ability without deciding on his own precise niche in the temple of Fame. -- C.S.Lewis
xvincex
All good then. The speakon end to the cabinet doesn't matter, as long as it is 1+ 2+ on the AMP end, right?
