silver32012
Hey lowdowners. I've got a quick question. I'm trying to determine once and for all the scale length on my bass. If I understand scale length correctly, it is the length from the nut to the saddles, right? Now, the saddles on my bridge are staggered(due to string compensation I'm guessing). So which one do I measure from?
zeronyne
You are correct, the scale is measured from the nut to the bridge. If you are talking about a fender-style bridge, I doubt that the differences in length are over a quarter inch, so you'll be able to tell fairly easily whether it's a 34", 34.5", 35", 36", whatever. If you have a more specialized bridge: http://www.dingwallguitars.com/images/img_z1.jpg The scale varies per string, and you'd state it as such. "For instance" is not proof. getz out
Just measure from the nut to the 12th fret and double the measurement.
