One might also speculate that he spent a great deal of time out in that shed marked "wood" out in back of his place of residence. Vic is good. He didn't get there overnight. If you are looking to emulate his bass playing prowess, I would suggest practicing a great deal. Then practice some more. John Pattitucci introduced him at Bass Day as "The Bionic Bass Player." He stole the show. I think that performance is on DVD/Video.
