BigKahuna855
hello everybody, i have a problem and i am hoping somebody can help me out. i was practicing this afternoon and encountered a slight problem, my bass wont make any noise! i plugged it into another amp with the same result, so im thinking that it might be the batteries(active bass). can anybody help me with how to replace the battery? i decided i would get directions so that i dont break anything(im accident prone, haha). and, if anybody has any other ideas on what the problem might be, please post it, all suggestions are welcome. ...
For your sake, I'm assuming your bass doesn't have one of the super-convenient battery holders. 1. Find a screwdriver. 2. Remove the back plate from the bass. 3. Locate the battery. 4. Unplug it. 5. Plug a new one in. 6. Screw back plate on. 7. Put the screwdriver back where you found it, you father will be pleased with you later if you do.
_Sweet Willie_
If your bass does have one of those super-convenient battery boxes: 1. Pop the box/holder up. 2. Unplug the battery. 3. Plug in a new battery. 4. Pop the box/holder back down. Don't worry, you're not going to break anything. It's just a battery. Peace. spreadluv Fanboy? Why, yes! Nordstrand Pickups and Guitars. bubba upright
Much as I hate to be serious.....If the bass simply stopped making ANY noise, it shouldn't be the battery, all of my active planks start getting cool distorted tones for at least 1/2 hour before there is nothing. Sounds like a broken solder joint or a bad jack. What kind of bass is it? "Study, study, study...or BONK BONK bad kids!"

ClarkW
If he left the instrument cable plugged in overnight or something it could be dead in the water without getting the dying-battery-distortion sound. Also, have you tried swapping out your cable?
mound
Nah, simple solution. Clip the 1/4" plug off one end of your instrument cable and shove it into a wall outlet. Plug the other end into the input jack on your bass. you should hear something then. "You look hopefully for an idea and then you're humble when you find it and you wish your skills were better. PickPunk
The battery might've somehow disconnected itself. I doubt it would stop making any sound if it was just a dead battery.
mcbn
Buy a passive bass and send me your Ibanez. I'll fix it and return it... eventually.
Mr. Phil
slight bump because this happened to me last night. Kinda. I brought my Ibanez 5 String which is active to band practice. I haven't played it in about 2 weeks because I used my kit bass. But the last time I used it, it was fine. After plugging in, the output was super low and distorted. So I knew that it was the battery, so I changed it. Fixed. Just an example of how the battery could run out over a period of time without being played. Or it could have been that fact that the first time i had this problem, I was a newbie and brought it to be repaired (and paid $5 for an energizer 9v) about 2 years ago and hadn't changed the battery since. http://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/blue.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/black.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/fuscia.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/grey.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/orange.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/purple.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/red.JPGhttp://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/dots/yellow.JPG
