A month ago I would have said I am most proud of my Eden vt300 stack d410xlt d115xlt blah blah..

Two weeks ago, the Mullard ecc83 preamp valves I found (at home in a box) to go in it... shiny!

Today it has to be the lump of thermal insulating foam I found to use as an amp stand.

2 foot square by 2 inch tall and very dense. Left over from someones loft or wall insulation.

why? well it stops the stack making the stage vibrate. acoustic isolation=clearer sound without the stage acting as a sounding board adding its own out of control resonance and spoiling the sound I spent squillions to get.

didn't cost me a penny either.

O, yeah! Sorry. Ok,

I'm the proud owner of a brand new, factory-direct, awesome tone/color/playability, Fender Standard Jazz bass.(MIM)

Thanks for reminding me.

hmmmm.... a Godin A4 fretted acoustic electric 4 string...and a Godin A5 fretless (w/high C) acoustic electric 5 string. Those are my faves. The fretted I use mostly for chordal stuuf (doing 3 or 4 note chords on a fretless is tricky!). Excellent basses, incredibly expressive and gorgeous sounding.

Well, there is also a mint cond. '67 p bass which producers and engineers love (and request on sessions), but, truth be told, I rarely play it (except on sessions).

I also love my custom modified JamMan digital looper, Avalon U5 and Bag End d10D.....and a vintage LA2A compressor (a real one, not a re-issue).

Hard to pick really.

A Westone Rail bass I picked up from a pawn shop for 15 dollars. Headless and small square body, like a Steinberger. One volume knob. Slide the pickup on two steel rods (the rails) fore or aft for tone control. I repainted with Flecktone paint, white specks in medium blue.

It has seriously good punchthru sound. I use one of my 5 strings for my main rock band, but will be using this critter for some country fill-in gigs this month.

Am proud of this inexpensive weird looking thing.

Bassplayers aren't paid to play fast, they're paid to listen fast.
