Ryan Griffith
The newest member of my collection is a 5-string MTD Heir which is obviously quite a departure from my Fenders. The problem is she's fairly neck-heavy & the strap digs into my shoulder pretty good. I just got a padded strap, but I notice veins bulging & some discomfort. Anybody else out there have to wrestle with a neck-heavy bass? I'm nuts about the action & sound of the instrument so I would prefer to figure out something rather than hawk it & go back to the Fenders, great as they are. Just looking for some ideas out there... thanks! Regards, ~Griff
davebrownbass
Go out and get yourself a 4" leather strap, they are out there. It doesn't have to be padded...in fact, if the back is rough leather it'll stay put on your shoulder really good. "Let's raise the level of this conversation" -- Jeremy Cohen, in the Picasso Thread. Mike H.
There's a product out called "The Slider"?. Essentially it's a harness for you bass. Kind of like a back pack, where both of your shoulders support the weight. I think that there's an ad in the back of Bass Player in the classifieds. They may have a website as well. http://www.identity5.net
