Meriphew_dup1
I'm looking to buy either a Fender American Jazz bass, or a Fender American Precision bass, aside from ebay, where are some good cheap places to shop? Thanks. _____________________ Post indie electronic Meriphew www.meriphew.com www.meriphew.com
Jay J.
If you are looking to buy new, the american standard is about 950 and the delux model is around 1100, that is pretty standard no matter where you go. if you are looking to buy used, just check local music shops in your area most have a section of used instruments that they buy from people. when it comes down to it, wheather you like em or not the guitar center is pretty much your fender headquarters. they have competative prices and carry just about everything fender. petch
Fender American Deluxe Precisions are $895 from The Bass Place in Arizona. (Even the ash bodied models). Check their website. I bought one and I LOVE it. It is rapidly becoming my favorite bass...
Bob Keelan
Also, Guitar Center has been known to knock a couple of bucks off of 'undesirable' colors just to move them. I picked up an Am Std Precision in 'natural' for $715 (no case). good luck, bob
Banta
As was said before, Seattle=Bass NW. You have to actually play them to find one without the dreaded dead spots (if possible.)
Meriphew_dup1
Is an Ash body considered better than an Alder body? _____________________ Post indie electronicMeriphew www.meriphew.com www.meriphew.com
Christopher
Alder is the bodywood of vintage pre-CBS basses. It has a more mellow tone with even frequency response. Ash was common in the Fender Jazz basses of the 70s, and, being denser than alder, puts out a brighter tone. (Think Marcus Miller). It also weighs a ton. I have an ash Marcus Miller signature that weighs at least as much as my Fender Roscoe Beck.
