Ryan Griffith
Folks, I picked up a brand new 2001 Fender fretless Jazz. I am really impressed, I have to say! It's good to see what that extra $50 will get you. The pickups are much nicer, for starters. The pots are improved as well, with an even fade throughout the range, and they have the vintage knobs, not the cheesy ones with the numbers on em. Nothing mind-boggling, but definite improvements, to be sure! The only gripe I have is that the nut slots are very wide & deep, and I like the Thomastik Jazz Flats, which are relatively light gauge strings. They sit pretty much at the bottom of the slots, and I'm not sure that's the best thing for string vibration. But I think I came out on top if all I have to do is replace the nut. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents, since I saw a few posts earlier on asking about the new MIM Fenders... so there's my review. Improved, very solid, sounds great! ------------------ Regards, ~Griff Regards, ~Griff
