BenLoy Posted May 6, 2001 Share Posted May 6, 2001 Go to the roots...P-Funk, James Brown, Bootsy, etc. The key is keeping the DJ/loop sound of the music and locking in with the drums. But knowing tons of old school funk lines (esp Bootsy w/ P-Funk, he's sampled so much), will help you come up with some cool ostinatos.
