Dr Teeth
What exactly a maximizer does? If you would have to decide between TC triple C compressor and FATMAN FAT 3 what would you buy? What exactly does and how exactly do you use a DI? Rebuilding My Self
Bonafide
Hey Latin, In a nut shell, A maximizer is basically a sort of delay unit. It seperates the low frequencies and the high frequencies and delays them just slightly in order to give better sonic seperation. As for the compressor choice, that is up to you and what you may need from a comp. There are many to choose from. A direct box is an impedance convertor. It allows you to plug low impedance or high impedance signals into various gear. Direct boxes can do much more than that and there are several varieties to choose from, but that is a basic explanation. There are countless applications for them. Cheers. FoxTick
DIs are very useful for plugging a guitar directly into the console or driving signals over long cable. I use my DI for recording bass (the neighboors don't appreciate it when I mike the bass cabs) plus I get a tighter sound if I go direct with the bass.
