Best way to clean your ears?(**UPDATE**)

Recommended Posts

Never EVER use sticks to clean the ear hole.

The earsticks are designed and sold to clean the external ear curves.

Never ever put anything in your ear hole (and the ass hole too).

Clean it with your fingers, they are too big to damage it.

Sucking the brain's vacuum

Waiting for the Nuclear Fusion. More energy, less damage.

***UPDATE***

I went to one of the good ENT clinics here in ATL and got the wax sucked out. WOW....as soon as the lady was done I noticed a HUGE difference. I could here myself talk and think! The midrange is much more present. My keys rattle with more harshness now. Keep in mind that I had conductive hearing loss do to an over-abundance of ear wax that should have been cleaned out a couple years ago. So your mileage may very greatly. But for me it was a good thing although I won't do it again for a while as others here have mentioned that it's not good to do it a lot. Having all that wax actually protected my ears at concerts when I forgot to wear ear plugs  ......i think. Anyway, I just thought I would share my experience. THANKS, ENT of ATL!!!!! YOU SAVED MY MARRIAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thu:

I have chronic earwax blocking one ear or the other- I'm pretty sure it must be a way of protecting my hearing from loud noises. It even seems to me like I've had a sudden build up in IMMEDIATE response to a nasty sudden noise!

I've never heard or read of that theory before, but it seems likely from my experience.

I've done water flushes before, hot, cold, and warm, but I've been told some audiologists don't think it's perfectly safe. I've had things come out of my ears that looked just like wax earplugs! But many frustrating unsuccessful flushes. My latest thing, second hand off gearslutz from someone with a real audiologist, is mineral oil put in the ear overnight and held in with cotton. The cotton is stained with wax in the morning, and it usually helps although it may take a few nights if wax is really hard. My mom said, "aren't you supposed to warm the mineral oil first?" I don't where she heard of such a thing, but it seemed reasonable so I just warmed the oil up to body temperature or so.

Right now I can hardly hear out of my right ear- ridiculous. I'll leave it that way until I REALLY have to hear well with both ears, tracking in stereo or something, than I'll do the mineral oil.

I think this excess of earwax is a lot of why I can still hear exceptionally well, at least when the wax is loosened up some!

I'll make you all cringe. I dig it out with the round end of a bobby pin. Done it for years. I'm always careful not to dig too far or too hard. Peroxide occasionally helps, with the syringe flush. But that's in rare cases. I try not to let it go that far out of hand. But to regularly go to a doctor? And a specialist at that?

Well, rare is the doctor or the auto mechanic who will admit their services aren't really required.

I use ear candles, two, three times a year. Gets an amazing amount of wax out. Decent ones can be had for a reasonable amount at most health food stores.

It's a two-person operation though.

Hmmm... I'm quite convinced that ear candles is a farce.

Ear candles work, it's the butt candle I'm suspicious of.

From the site:

"Q: My spouse has a hairy backside, will this interfere with the process?

A: It depends on just how hairy this backside is. An average amount of hair in this area presents no real problem. If you're still concerned, however, you can use a plant mister to moisten the area beforehand. If we're talking about a really hairy bottom there is some risk of folicular ignition and special caution must be exercised. Certainly use the mister first."
