2023 Synth Fest UK... October 6th, Exhibitor List

Recommended Posts

SYNTHFEST is right around the corner and there will be many companies that will be at the big event. Notice if you will there are a few companies that won't be in attendance. Most notably, Roland and Clavia (Nord). OTOH, Korg and Kurzweil will be there. Btw, perhaps one reason Roland and Nord aren't showing up is the possibility that Yamaha will launch the Montage M at Synth Fest. The Montage M will directly compete with the Fantom and the Nord Stage 4 going forward. Maybe they don't want to be upstaged by Yamaha? So they're playing it safe? Korg doesn't have a true Kronos replacement yet. The Nautilus (even with AT) lacks features compared to the Kronos. Kurzweil wants more exposure and publicity, so I can see why they would want to be there. Food for thought.

All good. I smiled at Rhodes being an exhibitor - the only way you could get further from a "Synth" manufacturer is if you are Steinway.

Cheers, Mike.

Actually the MK8 is very much an electromechanical synth at heart, and can go way beyond the classic Rhodes sonics, way into outer space- this time effectively using the tines to drive the audio rate modulation and many other aspects of the analogue circuitry and Fx . Myself and Cyril Lance call it an ‘electromechanical synth’.

The MK8 also has CV connectivity too for interfacing with Modular’s and other CV capable gear. 🥳

I have a feeling these decisions were made before Yamaha announced Mon2age; most likely, with their big releases already having come out or are right on the precipice (Gaia 2), they probably didn't think it'd be worth the time, effort, and money.

But Korg's been pretty quiet over the last few years... 👀

Yamaha have issued the following statement regarding their participation at Synthfest UK 2023 this weekend:

"Yamaha are looking forward to joining SynthFest UK this weekend to display a wide range of hands-on products along with Yamaha specialist staff to support any enquiries.

We will be exhibiting our recent releases including the CK Stage Keyboard Series and Finger Drum Pads, in addition to our more established MODX+, CP, YC and Reface ranges.

There has been much speculation regarding the launch of our successor to the flagship Montage synth which has been announced as an October release. To manage any expectations ahead of the show, we would like to clarify that unfortunately the timing of this new release means that it will not be featured at the show.

We look forward to seeing you all there."
