JB Sherry
Was in the mood for some Joey D, and looked chronologically for his latest. Wow! I did not care for his previous effort ( Van Morrison just didn't float my boat on standards; much prefer Joe Pesce ), but his latest from a few months back is excellent. This is an in-the-studio/talking heads kinda vid: [video:youtube]
SamuelBLupowitz
Wow, very cool. I realized as the video started that I'd never heard Joey speak before this. He caught me off guard, sounding just a little bit like Tony Soprano. As for Pharoah Sanders, I'll always associate him with a politics professor I had in college, who once countered my request for John Coltrane with "I'll play you some Pharoah Sanders... he was like Coltrane's Coltrane." In a way, he's right, but that has always stuck with me as one of the rudest I'm-cooler-than-you forms of one-upsmanship I've ever encountered. That was sort of that professor's M.O. Did I see in that video that Joey is playing a (gasp) digital Hammond in the studio? Samuel B. Lupowitz Musician. Songwriter. Food Enthusiast. Bad Pun Aficionado. JB Sherry
Yeh, I noticed the digital hammond, too. Sounds great! In addition to the red thing, there's a nice array of vintage keys around him, including a vintage reed organ behind him.
