Kurzweil - Ancient Stuff

Would anyone happen to have saved that PC2 editor that fdspeck made?

If so, could you somehow post or attach it here, or send it to me in a PM?

I had it years ago, and can't find it anywhere. Sonikmatter is gone, and some of the links to it don't work anymore.

I used to use it for a PC2R. I'm taking a wild chance that it

might work for an old PC161 that I just got.

When I sold my K2600, the ribbons were something that I really miss.

The PC161 has a ribbon input and I plan on getting one of those.

There's almost no editing on the PC161, but I got it to use mostly as a controller.

It would be fun to goof around with VAST again if I can find a program that would work with it.

I used to post here like 15 ago, or so. 1st post back and I have to ask goofy question.

Oh well - you guys should be used to it.

I have both version 1.0 and 1.1 zip files on my computer. I no longer have a web server to put them up for your use. It has been a while, but best I remember, in order to get it working, I had to first install 1.0 and then 1.1 over the top of it.

I have used it with a PC2 and PC2X.

Don't see a way to send it in a PM, but if you will PM me your email, I'll attach both files and reply.

PM sent.

I have no idea if those editors would work with the PC161, but would like to give it a try.

I've got Windows 10 now, and that editor was originally made for the PC2 series, not the PC1.

I've read a few comments stating that it works with the PC1's,

but don't know if that's from someone's experience, or just hearsay.

I don't spend near as much money nowadays on gear as I used to,

and picked up this old board for a song.

Nice having a simple uncomplicated board for a change,

while still having most of the things that are important to me as a controller.

If I get the editor, I'll try it and post back my findings here for anyone who might be interested.

Hey MoodyBluesKeys - thanks a ton! I got the files, the program opens and communicates with the PC161.

I just started goofing around with it and am pretty absorbed with it right now.

Will post again after I get it sorted more.

Thanks again.

Edit: Wow - I'm kind of amazed this works with the PC161

pretty much just like I remembered it with the PC2R I used to have.

I had doubts that it would work at all.

The main thing I wanted it for was to adjust the envelopes for release velocity.

After goofing with the settings for a bit I got it dialed in just as I like it.

All the other stuff is just a bonus. It's got 4 algorithms with 4 blocks.

All the settings and adjustments are there.

All the waveforms are there - but I don't know if they all match up correctly.

I tried saw&shaper in one algorithm and

set it to stereo with saws as the waves, adjusting pitches and so on with mod and pitch wheels,

and was presented with the good old madness.

It's a little glitchy and you can't hear what you're doing until you send the whole block over,

but it's surprising it works at all.

I can't wait to get the ribbon for the keyboard.

Of course, this is all old hat now if you can afford a Forte or some type of PC3,

but for me this is plenty fine.

Thanks go to fdspeck for making the program,

and to MoodyBluesKeys for so graciously and quickly sending it to me.

I made several copies of it so I don't misplace it again.

If we would ever happen to meet up, I'd provide several beverages of your choice. :cofee:
