Bob Dyl, the singing pickle (they called him that b/c he was such a sourpuss).

Of course, once he got going, BD was/is a great writer/an, uh, effective vocalist (he only really sang well for a short period around NashSkyline)/skilled guitar player/entertainer (see below)/& , perhaps most importantly, social commenter.

Wow, that sure makes me dislike Dylan! I didn't start liking him until my mid 30's anyway, and haven't listened to him in years. Now I know why.

 

On his own, you can "adjust", but once you put a GREAT singer next to him, like Johnny Cash or George Harrison, you just want him to shut up and let their far more emotive voices dominate!

It wasn't meant to show him disrespect BTW. He is what he is. It's just that I have to be in a specific mindset and mood to hear that, whereas a truly GREAT singer who is full of nuances, like Harrison or Cash, can pull me into their world regardless of where my head space is at.
