clpete
Can someone tell me how to build that springy- horn- bagpipe sound that plays periodically during the verses of the song? I will have to program my XV-5050. Im sure I can stumble around and get close. We play for free. We get paid to set up and tear down.
Sven Golly
One can only assume by "MTV" you mean "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. If so, clonk.

clpete
Yes, Money for Nothing. Sorry. Thanks for link. But since I sold my DX7 years ago, I need to build the sound. If someone has any idea where to start, I would appreciate it. We play for free. We get paid to set up and tear down.
xp50player
Looking at the waveform list for the XV-5080, I would start with 518 Wire String, a broadband FM sound that the stab could be carved from.
clpete
Thanks I will try that. I did stumble around my RD and layered a clav and a horn sound, with a multi-phaser to get the spring. It would work but it's not quite right. We play for free. We get paid to set up and tear down.

Yes, Wire String does it. Thank you!!! Still need to get the spring closer, but it's so close. How in the heck could you pick out that wave out of a 1,000? We play for free. xp50player
I have a PhD in XP/JV, though I don't own anymore . I did a lot of patch programming and sequencing on the XP50, where many of the XV series waveforms come from.
