Looking for old GP article on LP?

Usually, I can find this stuff on my own, but . . .

Quite a while back, in one of GP's many issues devoted to the Les Paul, there was an article regarding getting the best tone out of the LP, which even had instructions for adjusting the pole pieces in the pickups. All very OCD, I know, but I've been looking for it for quite a while.

The absurd thing is, I have all my back issues of GP, arranged neatly on a bookshelf, but I cannot find the issue with this article no matter how many of them I pull out and look through. Anyone remember this, for some reason? I know, it seems like every couple of years, there's another Les Paul issue, but this one was years back, around or before the LP turned 50. Any help would be appreciated . . .

"Quite a while back, GP did a big Les Paul issue (one of many, I know) but in that issue was a sidebar about adjusting your pole pieces for an 'optimal' LP sound. I have the mag somewhere on the shelf, just need to figure out which one it is. I'm talking some years ago, so that's a lot of bookshelf to sort through, and yes, I do keep ALL the magazines.

While I would still expect some variation in tone & volume, depending on string gauge, or materials, it would be interesting to have a starting point, at least. If I can find it, I'll share it here."

You posted this back on 5/21/13 Winston...I guess you haven't found the article yet LOL? I couldn't either and will keep trying...keep us posted if you do find it!

Take care, Larryz

Still looking, Larryz! We've had some work done on our house recently, and I'd been straightening up my bookshelves, when this one came back to me, like, "Where is that bloody thing?" Hey, if nothing else, I'm consistent!

<---check out these tone tips from Joe Bonamassa before making the adjustments and adding pedals! Pretty cool demo...at least we know the issue was prior to 2013! I have faith in you being able to find it! :thu:
